Can You Survive Without Leads?

Ummm…. I don’t think so. Even with a huge circle of friends and family, sooner or later you are going to need home business leads to build your business. These are either going to be leads you generate yourself, or leads you’ve bought.

dani-johnson.jpgThe very best advice I can give you is this:

1) Buy some cheap MLM leads at first. I don’t care what others are doing, get some cheapo leads and burn through 50 to 100 leads. You need the practice of being on the phone and getting natural. Don’t waste it on expensive leads.

2) Get some high quality training. It doesn’t get any better than Dani Johnson. Get serious. Go to her website and sign up for the next LIVE weekend training. Don’t cop out and buy the CD’s and listen at home.

3) Now with some experience and top class training, buy some leads that you think are your best shot. Test lead types and lead companies. You can find a good list of lead companies here: Top 10 Lead Companies.

That’s pretty much it. Keep it simple, as they say. You might even consider going back and getting more Dani Johnson training. Her advanced training may just put you over the top in your business!

Buying MLM Leads - What Not To Do!

Leads are everywhere on the Internet.  If you do a Google search for MLM Leads, you will see 1,350,000 results.  Click on the link below to see what I mean:

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4DKUS_enUS252US252&q=mlm+leads

That’s a lot of stuff on leads.  Granted, some of those are duplicates, but the fact remains, there are a lot of places to turn to when you search for leads.  I am partial to the #3 result on that page (at least as of the date of this post) - that being National-Leads.com:-)

Anyway, the main thing I want to focus on when buying MLM Leads, is what not to do.  Here is a list of 3 things you shouldn’t do:

  1. Don’t Over Analyze - Many people who are buying leads for the first time, or are buying leads after a couple of bad experiences get so focused on picking out the perfect type of lead for them, which, in my opinion, will create false expectations.  Furthermore, the person who tends to over analyze the perfect type of lead to buy is also the type of person who will sit there and stare at their leads and over analyze how to call them… and never do so.
  2. Buy The Right Lead For Your Company - If you have a program that will reward you with a $10 bonus check for every new recruit, then please don’t buy the $3 - $5.00 leads.  You will lose money.  On the other hand, if you are in a home business where you earn $200 - $1500 for every new recruit, buy the better leads and work them.  You will get a nice ROI.  On the one hand, a person has an unrealistic expectation about their potential earnings, while on the other hand the person may have a “poverty” mentality, tripping over pennies on their way to dollars.
  3. Expect Real Results - If a person asks me, “Do you think I can recruit 1 out of 10 leads?” - I would probably answer No.  A person who asks that kind of question, while an honest question, doesn’t have the experience or training with using Network Marketing Leads.  You are the only one who can answer that question, and the only way to really answer that question is to go through several hundred leads so you know what your numbers are.  You may conclude that I can recruit one person for ever 75 dial ups I make.  Who knows??

The main thing when buying MLM Leads is to know you, your company, your experience, your training, and based upon that, buy the right leads for you and your business.

Email Leads - Success in 2008

If you are using MLM Email Leads for building your network marketing business, you probably have guessed that times have changed drastically over the last few years.  It’s just as easy to pay $20/month for an autoresponder subscription, upload about 10,000 leads over the course of a month, and get yourself 30-50 qualified prospects.

lady2.jpgI used to do that.  In fact, in the early days, I could load 400 emails a month and enroll 3-4 people a week into my business.  It was cake.

Today, you can upload 100,000 leads per day, and that crappy autoresponder you’re using has such a poor delivery rate, emails are getting blocked, filtered, and all you can show for it is about 10-15 prospects.  Times have changed.  Just like in the book “Who Moved My Cheese,” you can either find the solution, starve to death while you keep doing the same thing, or completely quit.

This is about finding the solution for a change.

This is what I believe.  If you are going to have success with email marketing, you are going to have to get your own email server, learn to manage it (or find someone who will), send people to your own personal landing page, and have them optin to your own list, where you can market to them specifically about your own business.  It is a 2-step process, but the results are outstanding.  Let me break it down for you.

The Autoresponder - Your own email server.  I’m not really talking about $500-$1000 per month like some people are paying, but you are going to pay more than $20 like you were used to.  I am going to provide more details on this later on.  You are going to have to learn some “techy” stuff, so buck up and get it done.

The Leads - You are going to have to get more leads, and probably get them scrubbed.  Get yourself several thousand leads (depending on the capacity of your server), and pay to get them scrubbed.  You will pay about $225 to get them scrubbed.  Without getting them scrubbed, you will get some pretty fierce complaints, deal with abuse, spam traps, etc.  Be responsible with your leads.

The Landing Page - You will need to either design yourself, or go to  a place like rentacoder.com and hire someone to build a good looking landing page for you.  It shouldn’t cost more than $100… maybe half that… and it’s a one-time expense.  Don’t send them to your company landing page because you won’t have control over the list, and it helps protect you from being accused of spam.

Build Your Own List - You will use a second autoresponder, called a closed loop autoresponder.  The best in the business is Aweber.  This is your new $20/month autoresponder.  You will build your own list.  Why?  It gives you more control with your marketing, and, if something should ever happen to the company you are working with, and they close down, you don’t lose everything because you own the list.

The bottomline… you are building your own list, building a relationship with that list, and ultimately marketing to them about your business.  You are in essence, generating your own leads, which is probably THE BEST way to build a solid Home Business.
