Vacations In Santa Fe

Santa Fe is a popular tourist destination, particularly at Christmas, when room rates are at their most expensive. The buildings in Santa Fe are predominantly done in a Pueblo Revival style. This wasn’t an accident - it was a practice brought about by the city council in the 1910’s, an antidote to the decline that had existed in Santa Fe since the railway bypassed it for Taos in the 1870’s. Thus, Santa Fe almost seems to step out of time, and consequently has developed a large tourist industry. Many artists over the years have taken refuge in Santa Fe, refueling their creative spark. And Santa Fe exists as a cultural center to this day. Indeed, a lot of post-production film work is done there.

There is plenty of provincial craft and art, the sort you’d expect to find - Indian influenced, a little touristy. But Santa Fe is also becoming a more sophisticated in its’ arts offerings. Crafts and arts are not the only attractions to Santa Fe however. Many visit in the winter for ski and snow sports. Santa Fe has one of the highest ski areas in the US, and there are runs for first-timers as well as seasoned skiers.

If you stay in Santa Fe, there is plenty of accommodation to choose from. From the budget rooms to the boutique hotels, Santa Fe offers vacations that can cater to all spectrums of the budget.

Getting To Know Ireland With A Walking Tour

There’s no better way to get to know local culture and scenery than with a walking tour. Ireland is no different. And the beauty of the landscape makes it a first choice holiday. There are a lot of old roads and paths that are away from the domain of en masse tours, and the consumerism that often accompanies those routes. The Ireland that you’ll see on a walking tour is the Ireland that the locals live in - surrounded by mountains, boglands, and dotted with quiet valleys. And then there’s the coast, rich with fishing villages and wonderful little restaurants.

You can choose either a guided or self-guided Irish walking tour. Guided walking tours give you a real chance to find out about the folklore and the local culture. They are usually quite small, and provide a back-up service including luggage transportation and maps, that you don’t get on a self-guided walking tour. They usually have accommodation arranged in small hotels, and single rooms are usually available for a small surcharge.

Of course, if you’re a very independent person, or you’re with a group of friends, you might prefer a self-guided walking tour. In the self-guided walking tours organized by Irish Tourism, the accommodation is all organized and paid for in advance. You are met at the airport, and your luggage is transferred each day to your accommodation. Whilst you’re walking at your own pace, and without a guide, there is still a structure to your holiday.
