Vacations In Santa Fe

Santa Fe is a popular tourist destination, particularly at Christmas, when room rates are at their most expensive. The buildings in Santa Fe are predominantly done in a Pueblo Revival style. This wasn’t an accident - it was a practice brought about by the city council in the 1910’s, an antidote to the decline that had existed in Santa Fe since the railway bypassed it for Taos in the 1870’s. Thus, Santa Fe almost seems to step out of time, and consequently has developed a large tourist industry. Many artists over the years have taken refuge in Santa Fe, refueling their creative spark. And Santa Fe exists as a cultural center to this day. Indeed, a lot of post-production film work is done there.

There is plenty of provincial craft and art, the sort you’d expect to find - Indian influenced, a little touristy. But Santa Fe is also becoming a more sophisticated in its’ arts offerings. Crafts and arts are not the only attractions to Santa Fe however. Many visit in the winter for ski and snow sports. Santa Fe has one of the highest ski areas in the US, and there are runs for first-timers as well as seasoned skiers.

If you stay in Santa Fe, there is plenty of accommodation to choose from. From the budget rooms to the boutique hotels, Santa Fe offers vacations that can cater to all spectrums of the budget.
