3 Necessary Tools for the High Rolling Affiliate Marketer

May 31st, 2008 | Category: Business, Info, Marketing, Miscellaneous

What does it take to become a successful Affiliate Marketer? What are the ingredients of an affiliate marketing success story? Is there a shortcut to Affiliate Marketing glory? All these questions play around in the minds of affiliate marketers who want to make it big in this business.
Although affiliate marketing is touted as one of the easiest and most effective ways to earn money online, it is not as easy as it sounds. The wise affiliate marketer plans every action and executes it the best way he can. He should also maximize the potential to earn by utilizing the right tools necessary for a successful Affiliate Marketing business. We have consulted some of the most successful affiliate marketers in the business and below are the top three necessary tools for a successful affiliate marketing business.

Important Tool #1: Your Own Website

The most important and indispensable tool in Affiliate Marketing is your own website. The first step in any successful affiliate marketing business is building a good, credible and professional looking website. Your website is the jump off point of all your marketing efforts. Thus, you must first build a user-friendly website, which will appeal to your prospects and encourage them to click on the links to the products and service you are promoting and make a purchase. Therefore, you must first concentrate your efforts in building a website that will cater to what your prospects need.

The most important thing you should consider is that almost all web users go online to look for information, not necessarily to go and buy something. Above all else, make your website full of original, relevant and useful content. People will love articles that are appealing and helpful. Keep in mind that, in the internet, content is still king and good quality content will not only build your credibility, it can also help you achieve a higher search engine ranking. By posting relevant and useful articles, you establish yourself as a credible expert in the field, making you a more trustworthy endorser of the product or service you promote. Establishing a good reputation is a good step in building up a loyal consumer base.

Important Tool #2: Incentives

Competition is extremely tight in the internet world. You must always be one-step ahead of your rivals to ensure that you capture a significant share of your target market. Therefore, you must use every possible means to encourage people not only to visit your site but also to click and proceed to the websites of the products and services you are promoting. Building an opt-in email list is one of the best ways to gather prospects. Offer a newsletter or an e-zine. Better yet, offer incentives to your prospects to encourage them to subscribe to your newsletters. You can present free softwares, access to exclusive services and other freebies that will be helpful to your prospects.

Important Tool #3: Link Popularity

The importance of driving highly targeted traffic to your website cannot be emphasized enough. The all-important web traffic is at the top of the list of the most important entities in the internet world. Attracting people to your site should be the first step you should carry out. Do everything to achieve a high search engine ranking. Link Popularity is one of the factors that search engines use to determine search engine rankings. Therefore, to enhance your link popularity, you must launch an aggressive reciprocal link campaign.

One of the best ways to do this – at no cost at all – is by submitting articles, with your website’s link at the resource box, to e-zines and free article sites. You will not only gain exposure, you will also have the opportunity to advertise for free, just include a link back to your site. The more sites you submit your articles to, the better your link popularity is. Make your articles original, relevant and useful so that more websites will pick it up and post it.

These are but three of the many tools that an affiliate marketer can use to maximize earning potential. The possibilities are endless and are limited only by your imagination, creativity, resourcefulness and determination. You can always explore other ideas and adapt other strategies, which you think might help you become a high rolling affiliate marketer.

Memory Sticks

May 30th, 2008 | Category: Miscellaneous, Technology

The floppy disk may finally be dead. Though the advent of the CD-ROM allowed computer users to easily view large amounts of information in a portable package, the inability to rewrite normal CDs meant that computer users who wanted to transfer their files and information were stuck using the unreliable floppy disk, which all too often malfunctioned or attempted to reformat itself. CD-R and CD-RW drives came along to solve part of the problem, but they weren’t the answers most of us were looking for. CD-R disks are only writeable, and though their more expensive cousins the CD-RWs are rewriteable, not enough computers are equipped with the drives to handle them to make them worthwhile.

Fortunately, someone clever came along and realized that since most computers have at least one USB (universal serial bus) port, why not make some sort of storage device which attaches to computers through a USB port? The memory stick was born. Also called flash drives, memory sticks allow computer users to quickly and easily plug in the memory stick to a computer and have it recognized as another drive. Once it’s plugged in, users need only to drag and drop the files they want to transfer onto the memory stick and they can transfer the files to another computer. The flash drives aren’t easily corrupted by magnets or interference, resulting in trouble-free use. They also don’t need any sort of power supply in order to retain information, so they can be used when needed.

Sony patented the term “memory stick” when they came out with a new storage device for their digital cameras and digital files. The Sony memory stick is a flash drive which fits in all Sony cameras. Sony computers, including laptops, feature a memory stick drive as well, allowing Sony users to slide the memory stick directly from their cameras to their computers, effortlessly transferring their photos. In fact, almost all digital cameras utilize flash technology in one form or another, either in Secure Digital, Memory Stick, or Compact Flash formats. These methods of memory storage allow users to save their photos and files onto safe, secure, reliable, and portable hard drives which can be carried in a shirt pocket. With sizes ranging up to three or even five gigabytes, users can store hundreds of times the information they could store on standard floppy disks. Finally, the dear old floppy disk’s time may have past.

SUV Fuel Economy

May 30th, 2008 | Category: Automotive, Energy, Travel

SUV fuel economy is not exactly legendary. A matter of fact, SUVs are known far and wide as some of the biggest gas guzzlers that are.  So when one of my friends announced that he was looking for the best gas mileage SUV rating, I was a little bit surprised. It didn’t really make any sense. If you’re going to buy an SUV, you giving the world a certain message: luxury matters to me much more than efficiency. Of course there are certain SUV companies such as Subaru which specifically market to hippies and other supposedly environmentally conscious folks, but even these are not known for being tremendously energy-efficient. Still, I was intrigued. I wanted to find out more about the best gas mileage SUVs.

The real problem is that the category SUV is pretty flexible. Although they are supposed to be rugged vehicles equipped for off-road driving, the reality is much different. Many of them are simply status symbols for people who like to show off. They are roomy inside, high above the ground, and big enough so that if they get in crashes, the other car takes the worst of it. That isn’t to say that SUVs are safe. Even the best gas mileage SUV won’t save you from a rollover crash, and that can be fatal. Nowadays, many of the design flaws inherent in sport utility vehicles are being corrected, but I still wouldn’t trust one with my life without doing a lot of research.

The biggest problem with this project, of course, was coming up with a definition for what an SUV is. A car like the Saturn Outlook, for example, might be considered an SUV but might not. Would a crossover car qualify for the best gas mileage SUV? It is pretty hard to tell, and my friend couldn’t decide.

In a lot of ways his whole project was a waste of time. It did have one good effect, however. Researching the best gas mileage SUV really got him thinking. For the amount of money that he could spend buying a new SUV, he could get something that was really fuel-efficient such as a Honda hybrid car. He came to realize that he didn’t really need an SUV. He didn’t have much to carry around, and he didn’t go off-road very often. Instead, he invested his money in a fuel-efficient car. It might not be as big and overbearing, but it is a better investment in the long term.

Music Lessons

May 24th, 2008 | Category: Children, Education, Info, Music

Kids today need to be kept busy and involved. Parents often make the mistake of trying to force a hobby or extracurricular activity on their child, that somehow conforms to the parents definition of success. This approach generally leads to frustration and irritation and parents end up paying for materials and lessons that end up going to waste.

We learned this the hard way. When our son was four, we enrolled him in an academy of music to learn to play the piano. The teacher was very impressed with his ability at such a young age. However, practicing between music lessons, became a standing issue that we all began to dread. We stuck with the lessons, since they had already been paid for. My husband was determined that our son would learn the importance of commitment and the value of hard work. Of course, in the end, our son won that battle. When it was time for him to perform at his first recital he flat out refused to go on stage. And that was the end of that!

We talked to others, as the years passed and we discovered one approach that many parents have found meets with success. They suggested allowing the child to choose an activity from within a broader topic. So, we again approached our eight year old son and offered him his choice of music lessons. His first choice was to learn to play the drums. As a test to determine his true level of interest and commitment, we borrowed a set of drum pads from a friend, who also went through the drum lesson phase. I suppose the prospects of making an awful racket was a large part of the appeal and this was somewhat lost with the drum pads being a tamer version of the real thing. So, as expected our son quickly lost interest.

A month or two later, the topic of music lessons came up again. My husband discovered that a local DJ was offering Saturday morning training in our community free of charge! It turned out that this particular DJ is extremely talented and placed sixth in the recent World Championships. When our son caught wind of this opportunity he was very excited and began taking lessons immediately. Within a matter of weeks his natural talent began to emerge. DJ Brace was astounded and adopted our son as his little protege. It quickly became apparent that taking lessons once a week wasn’t going to be enough to satiate our son’s aptitude and interest. DJ Brace agreed to help our son select a starter system at a reduced rate from a local music store, and before we knew it, our living room was equipped with some pretty fancy turntables so that our son could scratch away to his heart’s content, between music lessons.

We were delighted by his talent, but we started having a few misgivings. Our son was obviously a natural and if he continued in this hobby, we realized that down the road, this would progress to his performing in bars and nightclubs throughout the city. This was a little more than we had bargained for, and we sat down to have some serious talks with our son about the music lessons and his expectations for the future.

By the end of the summer, we found out that we had worried for naught. Our son started missing his lessons, stopped practicing and moved on to activities that an eight year old views as bigger and better things.

It’s a hard lesson for parents to learn, but the best advice is for parents to just go with the flow. Allow children to pursue their interests within reason, but never put all your eggs in one basket. Meaning: don’t invest money that you don’t have or push your child too hard in a direction that has value in your mind, but doesn’t really appeal to your child. Kids are growing and changing everyday. It’s normal for them to want to try their hand at new things along the way. You never know. One of these days, something just might stick. But, in the meantime, don’t take yourself or your child too seriously, when it comes to hobbies, music lessons or the like. This approach will help you avoid many headaches along the way, and allow you to enjoy watching your kids develop their interests and talents as they grow.

Five Star Hotels

May 23rd, 2008 | Category: Business, Info, Travel

I was not poor, but my parents were never people to throw around their money. Staying in five star hotels was something that had never really occurred to me when I was growing up. What would you need with a five star luxury hotel? We were always taught to make our own entertainment, after all. On vacations, we would go on hikes, explore the local surroundings, and take in movies – all pretty basic activities. We never really needed luxuries like room service, although as kids we loved to go swimming in pools.

So I was pleasantly amused when the conference I was going to decided to put us all up in 5 star hotels. As one of the world’s foremost experts in physical anthropology,  I have always been treated well, but a five star hotel defied my expectations. With the dearth of funding in academia nowadays, I wondered if they weren’t being a little bit too extravagant. I was almost tempted to complain about the five star hotel, but when I talked to one of my colleagues, she rolled her eyes at me. She told me to relax and enjoy for once – to stop always being so serious. I took her suggestions to heart. I wanted to know what made five star hotels so special.

Let me say that I was fairly impressed. I had never even stated a four star hotel before, and to me luxury accommodations simply meant a clean room with a soft bed. five star hotels took everything to a new level entirely. There was a fireplace in every room, a fully catered luxurious meal, marble floors in the lobby, and recreation facilities beyond anything I had seen anywhere but in the most high-priced gyms. There were even professional massages available for hire. I can’t say that I needed, or even used every service the five star hotel had to offer, but I was certainly less critical of it by the time I left. Of course it was a waste of resources, and of course it was extravagant, but that was the whole point.

Looking back on the experience, I am glad that I had it. If I never stay in five star hotels again, that is quite fine with me – it isn’t something that is important to my way of life. Still, five star hotels are something that should be experienced by everyone at least once in life – if for no other reason than to know what goes on in them.

Start an Art Collectible Hobby and Beautify Your Home

May 23rd, 2008 | Category: Arts, Design, Miscellaneous, Uncategorized

Collecting is a fun hobby, and one of the most interesting things to collect are art collectibles. Many different items can be painted with artwork and become an art collectible. Hobby enthusiasts collect such things as saw blades, and wooden eggs which have had artwork painted on. People even collect designer rugs as art. Another art collectible hobby is collecting limited edition plates, thimbles, Christmas ornaments, and figurines produced by such companies as Bradford Exchange. And of course, many people collect fine art paintings.

The person with an art collectible hobby will probably find his or her own favorite artists whose works they appreciate. They can choose to focus on one particular artist, either past or present, or they can choose from the works of many artists. On the other hand, they may collect art and art objects around a theme they enjoy, such as cigars, wild animals, or piano music.

One may think of an art collector as a rich person who has the money to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on an original Van Gogh. A person of more modest means can collect art too, however. Post cards are a good place to start. Most art museum gift shops offer high quality, glossy postcards printed with some of their more notable acquisitions. By buying those cards one really appreciates, anyone can have an art collection.

Ebay is a good source of art collectibles whatever type of art or collectible you fancy. In fact, if you are just starting out, the choices and options can be overwhelming! Just remember that you can sell your own belongings as well as buying those of others. This should make the impact on the budget a little less powerful. Other ideas for inexpensively collecting art collectibles are scouring flea markets, thrift shops, and garage sales. You never know what treasure someone else may be getting rid of.

One nice thing about art collectibles is that artists can be found in every part of the world. The art collector should scout the local art shows, museums, and artist’s hangouts to find out just what sort of talent can be had less expensively and close to home. Because of the local flavor of some artwork, art collectibles make good travel souvenirs. For instance, the artist Linda Barnicott specializes in paintings of scenes, buildings, and landmarks found around Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Similarly, collectors can find local artist almost everywhere.

An art collectible hobby will keep you interested in life and give you a home filled with art masterpieces as well. If you enjoy pretty and interesting things around you, consider starting an art collectible hobby today.
