Going back to the past can be your drive of travelling to Mexico. The country is wealthy in cultural heritage as noted by their way of life to different historical structures. Usually, colonial cities have the most acclaimed museums in the area. The capital alone, Mexico City, is home to more than 150 museums. Museums here are world-class and mostly are dedicated to Mexico’s famous heroes, artists or individuals. The Museo Nacional de Antropologia has an extensive collection of artifacts. This is one of the pleasant anthropological museums anywhere in the world and certainly the most important museum Mexico. The famous Aztec sun stone is displayed here plus astounding collection of artwork from the indigenous population. The museum also provides information about how the descendents of these cultures live today. Being the center of Mexico, Mexico City illustrates Mexico’s fight for freedom as can be seen in these museums where you can experience to look back to history when heroes carried out their bravery to stop colonialism.
In Oaxaca city you can find some acclaimed and magnificent museums that are known all throughout Mexico. Although most of these museums store remains of their history, still other are devoted to the arts, featuring works of both local and nationally acclaimed artists. Examples of which is the Museo Rufino Tamayo is devoted to Rufino Tamayo’s vast collection of pre- Hispanic art. Rufino Tamayo has collected these arts over the years and was donated to the people of Oaxaca. Similar museum like the Museo de Arte Contemporanio de Oaxaca or MACO also exhibits works not only by Rufino Tamayo but also other artists like Francisco Toledo, Rodolfo Morales, Rodolfo Nieto and Francisco Gutierrez. Other museums of the area are La Soledad, a religious Museum and the Regional Museum of Oaxaca
Guadalajara and Monterrey are also distinct colonial cities that have contributed to the preservation of the Mexico’s history. Museums in the area stands along with some archeological structures as can be seen when you walk along the city. Guadalajara is the home of several fine museums, including the Archaeological Museum of Western Mexico, which exhibits artifacts used by the ancient peoples of the surrounding area. Monterrey on the other hand is distinct when it comes to cultural centers. Now, the city has the Monterey Wax Museum that features100 life-size wax figures that illustrates 450 years of Monterey’s fascinating and turbulent past while Museum of Mexican History features a visual display of the history of the country.
Many of the museums in Mexico regularly feature temporary exhibits, concerts and different cultural activities of all types.
