Monday, June 9th, 2008OC48 - Optical Carriers for Modern Communications
The first thing you may be asking is what exactly is an OC. An OC is an optical carrier. These are connections that can transmit voice and data through the use of fiber optic lines. This means that optical carriers can transmit both data or internet connections and voice connections.
They have a number of advantages over traditional carriers. One of them is the fact that there is a larger amount of bandwidth or load that OCs can handle over what traditional carriers are capable of, they also are faster than traditional carriers are. Optical carriers are usually used by businesses and primarily by ones that have international locations. Since optical carriers can handle voice T1’s, data, large transfers at high rates of speed and can be exchanged via wireless services.
